One being the person who shamelessly passes out business cards, seeing how many times they can repeat their name in the same sentence, just to increase the chance of someone remembering their profession!

The other more distinctive and personable side to networking is that of professional courtesy, collaboration, and resource. The two types of networking are very obvious to spot, and the true professionals are the ones getting ahead. It is this second type that gives the term 'networking' a good impression.

We all know how important it is in business to know someone. After all the top paying and top profile jobs are never posted in the paper. It is all in who you know, your contacts, your list of referrals, etc. Businesses are formed, companies are invested in, the 'change of the corporate guard' is largely dealt with behind the scenes between two (or more) people who ultimately know each other.

With that in mind, in about a month, I will be releasing a new product, a regional networking portal, online. The best thing.. it is completely free. No payments, no credit cards, nothing. All you need is a couple ideas or the thought of promoting yourself. Entrepreneurs, small business development agencies, social innovators, white papers on business plan building, etc.. It will all be there.

So please, check out the beta version, www.getpro.org, in a month or so. I will be issuing a press release online once it is open. No longer will there be 4 or 5 networking organizations in your community. They can all be established online and collaborate under the 'same roof.'

One of these firms, or groups, is Pixel Corps, a pioneer in the graphic design, animation, and digital arts. In truth, there craft spans a broad range of categories, all important to an aspiring interactive media or animation guru.

I listened to a radio broadcast by IT conversations under the Globeshakers category in which Alex Lindsey, the CEO of Pixelcorps, outlined the mission behind his company. He is nothing short of brilliant. Alex talks about the digital media revolution, guilds, Africa, and how everyone fits into this educational and professional society that he has created. One absolutely profound quote from the broadcast, when asked what his what he was trying to do with his company, he replied, "I won't make it unless everyone else comes along with me." I can't tell you how much I agree with that. In today's world and economy, it is imperative to realize that the truly great companies work to help each other and society. This era will continue into the unforseeable future as well.

A general synopsis of Pixel Corps includes that of community, interaction, and training. To gain membership, a small monetary contribution (ridiculously small when compared to more traditional learning establishments) must be made. You then get access to an incredible amount of video training material, support, and software. You have the benefit of collaborating with some of the world's finest craftsmen, in a digital arts sense. You are set up as a user in their forums, which Alex takes part in frequently, and you are intertwined into the general community that makes up Pixel Corps. It is a truly revolutionary concept!

As the web becomes more and more interactive, with the addition of gigabyte access, Web 2.0, increasingly high bandwidth subscribers, and a generally more graphical environment, PixelCorps is making waves in very deep waters. They will continue onto magnificent things, and I truly can't wait to follow the company into the future.

I believe that everyone has the very definite capacity to make changes in the world, albeit big or small, but changes none the less. In this increasingly "internet based" era, the focus has indeed shifted to the online format. And with proprietary rights, copyrights, etc. a huge focus has been placed on content. Content which can be manipulated and remixed to ones own liking.

Starting tomorrow morning, I will be a dedicated blogger and promise to deliver some incredible content. This will turn into the outlet of what I am thinking, as scary as that might be.
